Forte Air Factory, a strong factory for ideas

FAF studio was established in 1998, by Nir and Ada Simhon, "Shenkar" College of Engineering and Design graduates.
Establishing this studio Nir and Ada put it as a goal creating visual ideas that will influence and inspire others.
Always looking forward, pushing for new ways of developments.

In FAF studio we consider textile as a challenge. We are fascinated with textile ability to contain so much information, and its way of connecting with tradition, culture, history and symbolism. For us textile design is the fusion of these factors with material usage. We always look for ways of creating new exciting combinations of materials, constantly pushing the textile boundaries. Renovate classic patterns or creating new ones, we are in a constant search for a new point of view on patterns and textures.

Inspired by natural rhythms

The patterns in nature are forms embodied in our subconscious and the universe. They have powerful energy fields, and reflect the rhythm of movement. From ancient through contemporary cultures, mandalas, or circular art forms incorporating geometric patterns, have been used for aesthetic, decorative and instructional purposes.
The onon surface concept was born 6 years ago while practicing "fabric cutting" techniques, inspired by natural rhythms. Simplifying the idea and pushing the materials and technology abilities to the extreme, revealed the onon surfaces as we see them today.
Reflecting natural meditative rhythm, onon surface provides new and surprising characteristics, playing with two-dimensional forms and rendering them three-dimensional. The effect is heightened through the choice of materials which change according to the light.

The hanging system is depends on the surface application:

Custom made frames
onon surfaces are very easy to install. FAF studio is available for any Installation consultation. We provide Aluminum hanging accessories and assist by preparing sleeves at the edges of the surface if needed.

Materials
Polyester vellum (100-125 microns, depends on the surface and design function).
Some of the surfaces contain Swarowski crystals which functions both as a structural and as a decorative element.

onon surface is an object of art and design and should be treated as one.

Antistatic, easy to clean
Elongation at break is < 150%
No significant change in color
When used as an illuminated surface it is recommended to use cold light Some of the surfaces can be manufacture with FR resistance, but proximity to fire is not recommended Imaged product is very stable, even in direct sunlight. There has been successfully use with UV cured inks, but we have no direct experience
